Liming is located 120Km away from Lijiang featured by the red sandstone karst mountains landscape, where Lisu people inhabit the deep valleys. Liming is the largest Karst Landform in southwest China. These beautiful layered peaks are some of the highest of their kind in China and are especially mystical because they are said to create the rising and falling of the sun 3 times in one day at certain times of year. This is actually caused by the angle of the earth and your view of the 3 peaks which block the sun throughout the day, hence creating 3 additional sun rises and 3 sets. Lashihai Lake is the center of the Lashihai Watersheld Nature Reserve, total is about 265.6 Square meters. It is the heaven for the migratory birds, there are about 70 species, 30,000 birds come here to through the winter from end of Oct. to early April every year, it is best place for the people to birdwatching. It represents how harmony the humanity and nature get together! Boshan Stone Town lies in the Jinshajiang River valley northeast of Jade Dragon Mountain. It is not a castle made of stones but a town built on a gigantic rock. The people built their houses according to the things that they can use around them. Some people use stones to make columns, desks and tables, and some water vats, stone kitchen range and even bed. All these stones are polished smoothly,. They record life Naxi people year by year. Touching the stones we can feel that our ancestors are living around us. The most amazing thing in town is the indepent irrigating system that the villagers use for each track of field without affect those of others, which shows us the admirable wisdom of the Naxi people.
As the deepest gorge in the world, Tiger Leaping Gorge is a must place to visit in Lijiang. The First Bend of the Yangtze River and Shigu Town or Stone Drum Town will be arranged on the way to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Tiger Leaping Gorge is on the Jinsha River of the upper reaches of the Yangtze) is located 105 kilometers south of Zhongdian County. The gorge is 17 kilometers long with a drop of 213 meters. The gorge is divided into three sections: Upper, Middle and Lower Hutiao. At the narrowest spot the river is only 30 meters wide. The mouth of the gorge is 1,800 meters above sea level. The river is flanked by Yulong and Haba snow mountains, with a height difference of 3,900 meters. It is one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Yulong Snow Mountain or Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, located 15 kilometers north of the county seat of Lijiang, is a national-level scenic area. Yulong Mountain is the southern section of the Hengduan Mountains. It has 13 peaks, stretching 35 kilometers from north to south. Shanzidou, the main peak, is 5,596 meters above sea level. There are three cablecars in the mountain as follows: the Glacier Park Cablecar to 4506 meters high; the Spruce Meadow Cablcar to 3200 meters high; the Yak Meadow Chiarlift to 3700 meters high. Yulong Snow Mountain is a holy mountain for Naxi people, every February of the lunar year, Naxi people will go to worship the mountain as a god. At the foot of the mountain, you can visit Jade Water Village, Yufeng Monastery,Dongba Valley,Yuhu Village and Joseph Rock Former Residence,Baisha Murals and Baisha Village.
At the junction of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau stands one of Yunnans more famous spots, Tiger Leaping Gorge. The gorge is tucked neatly between the Yulong Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain, which surround its two sides.The 17km-long gorge is divided into three segments with an aggregate fall of 210 meters. At the opening of the gorge, which is also the mouth of the Jinsha River, a Herculean pebble, about 30 meters wide, seems to be stranded amidst the billowing waves.You can witness an incredibly loud, churning, foaming river relentlessly pounding giant boulders in its path. Tiger Leaping Gorge is an unforgettable display of powerfully intense raw nature. Having been adventured by western intrepid hikers since 1980s, the gorge used to offer two hiking footpaths: the High Trail and the Low Road. Today the Low Road was transformed into a vehicular road. Fortunately, the easily accessible High Trail, with well-marked signs, clean and friendly lodges, amazing landscapes, still offers a wonderful trek to any fit traveler who loves wild nature.
